Here is another example of the government over zealous grab for more control over our lives. In Austin Texas 70 year old retired Air Force reservist Joe Del Rio had his home seized by the city of Austin, TX. Was he late on his mortgage payment? Did he neglect to pay his property taxes? No, his only offense was having a home that contained an old bomb shelter built in the basement floor. The shelter was installed back during the cold war and the fear of nuclear war with Russia. (Think Cuban Missile Crisis)
Mr. Del Rio’s home was broken into while he was held at gun point by SWAT officers and after 10 hours of interrogation he was barred from returning home. The city decided to fill in the bomb shelter with concrete which Mr. Del Rio was using as a workshop. They then sent him a bill for $90,000 in changes they made to his home to make it “safe” and then told him he his home was being seized. Well I don’t know about you but this doesn’t sound like the land of the free and the home of the brave. More like the land of the thieves and the home of the slave.
